Get Engaged General Conference Forum at Birmingham First UMC

Thereforgo_Get EngagedOn April 22 at 7:00PM in  Fellowship Hall, Birmingham First United Methodist is hosting “Get Engaged,” a Michigan Area-wide informational Forum on the 2016 United Methodist Church General Conference. The Forum is sponsored by First United Methodist Church of Birmingham and the Detroit Renaissance District.  The forum is intended to give United Methodists in Michigan an opportunity to engage in a discussion of the issues, challenges and possible outcomes from this year’s General Conference (GC) that could profoundly impact the practices and direction of the United Methodist Church. Birmingham First UMC has invited all of the UMC churches in the Detroit Renaissance District and around Michigan.

Detroit Renaissance District At-Large Delegate Application Process is Now Open

The 2016 Detroit Annual Conference is scheduled for June 8 – 12 at Michigan State University, Breslin Student Event Center in East Lansing, Michigan. Each district in the conference is allocated a certain number of member-at-large persons to represent their respective district. This year, the Detroit Renaissance District has been allotted 37 members to attend the conference as district at-large representatives.

If you have a person in your congregation that you would like to recommend to represent the Detroit Renaissance District as a District-at-large member, please have them fill out the application form Here and mail (or email) it to the district office before March 9th.
